The Set-Up
Social Smoke Mobster was smoked on numerous occasions using various pipes, bowl and hose combinations. Most recently it was smoked on a 38” Egyptian Brass hookah, an HJ Alien Mini phunnel bowl and a large Nammor hose.
The Experience
Mobster began delivering flavor almost instantly. The smoke followed after several draws, and was very dense after about 5 minutes of smoking. Mobster produced no head-buzz whatsoever, even when drawing more frequently than normal. The session lasted roughly an hour and thirty minutes before the flavor and smoke dropped off sharply.
The Flavor
At first taste, Mobster is a confusing flavor. It is a candy, sweet, fruity flavor with a floral finish. It’s very difficult to compare to something in the real world, which adds to the confusion. The scent is that of candy dipping sticks (you know, the giant Pez that you lick and then dip in Pixi Stick dust?), but the taste betrays the smell. They’re almost nothing alike. The smell is extremely sweet, but the flavor, while sweet, is far more mild. Mobster could also be compared to another Social Smoke flavor, The Edge. However, Mobster is only a mild sweetness, with a noticeably more intense floral finish.
The Insight
I won’t lie. I really didn’t like Mobster the first time I smoked it. It felt eclectic and strange. But for the sake of review, I continued smoking, attempting to analyze the flavor. While I never really pinned down what I was tasting, I did discover that what seemed disjointed was actually quite complimentary and complex. The sweetness is not overpowering and the floral taste actually closes the draw very nicely. Mobster went from a 2 star flavor to a 4 star flavor in three or four smoking sessions.
Who Should Try This Flavor
Mobster may find a home with fruit fans, as well as floral fans. The blend is truly executed with excellence. I imagine spice fans won’t care too much for this one, but who knows, I didn’t like it at first either, but here I am, giving it four out of five stars!
William, Mobster is SS’s take on the energy drink, Monster. They got it pretty close, IMHO. While I am not a washed tobacco fan, this is beciming one of my hookah guilty pleasures.
