Starbuzz Marlette
Rating
[Rating:4/5]
Cut & Composition
The Starbuzz cut can vary. Marlette is between a medium-long and medium-fine cut. As usual, this batch is very juicy, nearly dripping and bright red. Don’t be surprised to find some short stems.

The Set-Up
This review was performed after two smoking sessions using a Al Fakher Large Solid hookah and a Vortex Bowl. Three Coconara coals were used to heat the tobacco, and two layers of standard tin foil, punctured in a star shape, sealed the bowl.
The Experience
The smoke produced was thick and billowing, though keeping your heat right on the sweet spot may be slightly more challenging than with other brands, such as Al Fakher and Nakhla. For new smokers, they may find that it becomes harsh easily. Seasoned smokers probably won’t notice and will simply enjoy the dense smoke and robust flavor.
The Flavor
Marlette has a sophisticated rich, dark, sweet, almost spicy, flavor. There are clear undertones of berry and grape. It produces a similar sensation in the back of your throat to a glass of red wine. This sensation can be accentuated by adding 4 – 8oz of merlot or shiraz red wine to the water in your hookah base.
The Insight
If you’re like me and smoke brands like Al Fakher and Nakhla on a daily basis, you may find Starbuzz Marlette too sweet for your taste. The taste was good and the over all experience very pleasant. For me, a seasoned smoker, It produced only a light buzz. The taste was clearly most appreciated when exhaling through the mouth and nose simultaneously. The taste, for me, is too rich for daily smoking. But would probably make an excellent tobacco for special occasions and groups who aren’t accustomed to more subtle smoke flavors.
Who Should Try This Flavor
Starbuzz isn’t cheap. If you’re looking for the most bang for your buck, this isn’t it. I would recommend anyone who loves a complex, but sweet and fruity flavor give this one a try. If you’re looking for something similarly sweet, but simpler and cheaper, you might consider picking up a 50g pack of Al Fakher Watermelon and see how that sits on your pallet.
