Cut & Composition
Ayam Zaman Watermelon is fairly wet, though not dripping, and slimy in a medium-short cut dark tobacco. There are very few, if any, stems to be found. The tobacco is packed very tightly into packaging. Be cautious when opening to avoid cuts and throwing tobacco everywhere.

The Experience
Ayam Zaman Watermelon took a little longer than most tobacco to begin smoking at its fullest potential, about fifteen minutes. The smoke was reasonably thick, though not head-turning. For an experienced smoker, Watermelon produced no noticeable head—buzz. However, Ayam Zaman is touted as a ‘traditional tobacco’, which means that novice smokers may experience a buzz that is more noticeable that other tobaccos. The tobacco has an excellent resilience, showing no adverse signs to average changes in heat. The session lasted about an hour and thirty minutes before the smoke and flavor died out.
The Flavor
Ayam Zaman Watermelon, like it’s Hookah-Hookah cousin, is an excellent, realistic watermelon flavor. The flavor is sweet and rich, similar to the bright pink parts of a real watermelon, but there are also some notes of tartness, like you might find in the lighter parts of a watermelon found closer to the rind. However, unlike the Hookah-Hookah counterpart, Ayam Zaman’s Watermelon also has a distinct natural tobacco undertone which, in this case, takes away from the overall flavor a bit.
The Insight
Ayam Zaman Watermelon is a great flavor, but the natural tobacco taste keeps you from ever forgetting that you’re smoking watermelon, not eating it. Where the natural tobacco taste in other flavors can really enhance things, in this case it’s a bit of a drawback.
Who Should Try This Flavor
Novice hoping to jump into the more ‘traditional’ forms of tobacco might find this flavor to be a good segway. However, if you’re looking for something very realistic, you’ll do better looking into Hookah-Hookah’s similar flavor by the same name.
