Cut & Composition

Hookah-Hookah Double Apple is a long stringy cut. Something much like roll-your-own cigarette tobacco. There are no stems to be found. The tobacco is wet, but more oily than other brands. It will leave your fingers wet but not slimy.

The Experience

Double Apple wasted no time getting started, with smoke and flavor at its richest, available in just a few minutes. The smoke was thick, and enjoyable, but not especially impressive. From Sahara Smoke’s own Vortex Bowl, the tobacco remained surprisingly resilient, with the flavor and smoke largely unaffected by moderate changes in the heat. The smoke never became harsh, and produced no head-buzz whatsoever. The session lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes.

The Flavor

Hookah-Hookah Double Apple is Sahara Smoke’s attempt at one of the world’s oldest and most famous flavors. The flavor is famously tastes nothing like apples, but rather uses a strong anis ingredient. If you’re unfamiliar with anis, the easiest way to describe it is sweet licorice. Unlike older brands such as Nakhla and Al Fakher, which produce similar tobaccos under the name ‘Two Apples’, Hookah-Hookah’s Double Apple is roughly the same flavor, but a tad sweeter and lighter.

The Insight

Fans of Double Apple style flavors have typically staked their claim in one of the more traditional brands, such as Al Fakher and Nakhla. These folks are unlikely to jump ship to try Hookah-Hookah’s version. But, Hookah-Hookah has not taken a misstep here and their attempt is quite good. Smokers who give it a chance might find they appreciate the milder version of the cherished flavor.

Who Should Try This Flavor

Fans of Double Apple flavors aren’t going to downright dislike this flavor, but might find it underwhelming if the intensity of other brands is what you love about it. However, many people at first recoil against the traditional flavor, finding it too strong, or simply strange and unusual. For folks who have never been introduced to the flavor, Hookah-Hookah’s version may be a good place to start since the flavor is not quite so in-your-face.
