Social Smoke The Edge is a medium cut, slimy tobacco with very few small stems, most of which are not at all disruptive.

The Set-Up

The Edge was smoked using various hookahs and bowl styles. Most recently, for the purpose of review, The Edge was smoked with a 36” Khalil Mamoon hookah and an HJ Alien Mini phunnel bowl.

The Experience

From the get-go The Edge produced flavor. With three coals, it took about two pulls to produce thick smoke, after which one coal was removed and set aside until later in the session. The flavor and the smoke lasted about an hour and twenty minutes. Both died out quickly and at roughly the same time.

The Flavor

The Edge flavor is difficult to nail down. There is a subtle candy-watermelon taste and likely some blended berries as well. But the overall taste is a kind of candy rush—very sweet, but with a delicate floral finish.

The Insight

The Edge is a somewhat complicated flavor. In one sense it presents itself as a unique big-picture flavor. But in another sense, it’s also a maze of other sensations that, at first, don’t seem to go together, but by the end of the bowl, it’s clear that it works.

Who Should Try This Flavor

The Edge is a flavor for everybody, it seems. The floral sensation is unique among candy-flavors. It’s sweet, but not outrageously so. It seems to be a party favorite. Personally, as a spice fan, I wouldn’t find this flavor in my regular rotation, but I would certainly enjoy it along side friends who have a more thorough appreciation for this kind of flavor. So sweets fans, feel good about this one. Everyone else, start with 100g and see if it’s for you—in some way, it probably will be.
