Blue Rain is a candy-sour grape, with a mild mint element to it and that is very much what it tastes like. It’s positioned to be a competitor for Starbuzz’ Blue Mist, though the taste is really not at all similar. Within the hookah world, the flavor is much closer to Al Fakher’s Golden Grape, though a bit more refined.

Strawberry Citrus Mint is, as the name suggests, a blend of strawberry, citrus flavors and a light mint sensation. The citrus and mint flavors are clear, though the strawberry is a more ambiguous berry flavor. In terms of other tobaccos, Strawberry Citrus Mint is very similar to Romman’s Good Times flavor. It’s unclear who truly has the upper hand, but Tonic’s Strawberry Citrus Mint is slightly cheaper than Romman’s alternative.

Chocolate Mint is, in a word, unbelievable. While there are many Chocolate Mint flavors on the market, none has managed to capture my attention like Fusion’s attempt. The flavor, and the aroma, are exactly as the title suggests—chocolate mint. The mint, while distinct, is not overpowering. It won’t clear your sinuses. Baja Blue is closely related to the Starbuzz flavor, Blue Mist. It is a sweet blueberry flavor set atop a light mint sensation. The blueberry taste is a candy caricature of the real thing, but that is not a negative point. The sweetness melds just about perfectly with the mint to create something that isn’t obnoxiously fruity and sweet, but isn’t mild and bland either.

Absolute Zero is an intense mint/spearmint flavor, and in that way, it is fairly simple. However, Social Smoke has made some very subtle adjustments to the mint flavor. There is an extremely subtle sweet berry flavor underneath the mint. Identifying the berry is difficult. Blueberry is likely, but the flavor is so well hidden it’s not especially important. Thanks to this welcome addition of sweetness, Absolute Zero tastes less like a mint leaf and more like a very cold glass of Vitamin Water.

Remember those fantastic Terry’s Chocolate Oranges? The commercial would always end with someone slamming the chocolate orange onto a hard surface and all the little chocolate orange wedges would fall apart. Who didn’t love that? Well, add a healthy dose of mint and you can get almost the same experience in your hookah smoke.

Begin with Nakhla Mandarin Orange tobacco. Using your bowl, measure out about 70% Mandarin Orange. Fill the remaining 30% of the bowl with Nakhla Chocomint. Empty the contents into a small kitchen bowl and mix thoroughly …
